The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, is teaming up with thousands of partners, sponsors and corporate teams across the United States to help raise funds for potentially lifesaving research initiatives and support programs for people fighting cancer. The fundraiser, Light The Night Walk (www.LightTheNight.org), is set to take place on various dates in a long list of US cities. View the schedule here.

In the days leading up to the Walk, anyone interested in getting involved can form fundraising teams, and millions of consumers get to help out by donating at retail outlets. All of these steps and contributions conclude with inspiring and memorable evening walks across 200 communities in the US, wherein participants carry with them color coded lanterns. Blood cancer survivors carry white lanterns, supporters carry red and those remembering a loved one that has passed carry gold.

The National Corporate Partner Team Program is an opportunity for companies and organizations that have multiple locations to participate in the Walks. Participation in and support of Light The Night helps bring company employees and management together while focusing their philanthropic efforts on a common goal.

“We are grateful to the companies and employees who are lending their support to this year’s Walk,” said Louis J. DeGennaro, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer. “LLS’s Light The Night Walk funds treatments that are saving the lives of patients today. LLS is accelerating cures by providing patient support services, advocacy for lifesaving treatments and the most promising cancer research anywhere. And it’s all happening now.”

In 2014, the Walk’s 25 leading National Corporate Partner Teams successfully raised roughly $11 million, which went straight to research programs focused on finding cures for blood cancers and patient support services.

This year marks Burlington Stores’ 14th consecutive year supporting the LLS Light The Night Walk. Burlington holds the title of #1 National Corporate Partner and Honored Friend of the Light The Night Walk campaign and has raise more than $22 million for the LLS simply by asking its customers to donate at least $1 at checkout. It has also encouraged thousands of its employees to join their local Light The Night Walks. This year, Burlington is launching renewed fundraising efforts in 545 stores nationwide beginning September 9th and running through December 2nd.
