Lymphoma is currently the most common type of blood cancer and it develops as result of the abnormal growth and reproduction of a type of white blood cells called lymphocytes. Patients are more likely to be older and the disease affects men and women equally, manifesting itself through swollen but painless lymph nodes. The prognosis associated with the disease is encouraging (mostly associated with the more common Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) and has improved over the past 20 years, partially due to the research efforts made worldwide.
